Scar Therapy Massage

Caesarean Scar Therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach designed to support healing, comfort and connection after birth. Using specialised techniques to soften scar tissue and improve mobility in the surrounding muscles and fascia, this therapy can help reduce discomfort, tightness, numbness and sensitivity around the scar as well as prevent scar tissue.

Beyond physical relief, Caesarean Scar Therapy may support better posture, core function, digestion and pelvic health, while also helping the body moving more freely and efficiently.

Many also find Caesarean Scar Therapy emotionally empowering—offering a chance to reconnect with their body, restore confidence, be heard (particularly if they have experienced a traumatic birth) and feel more at ease in their postnatal selfcare and recovery.

With a combination of Caesarean Scar Therapy, self-massage at home and good scar care together we can aid in your recovery.

Your 60 minute session will be a combination of discussing your birth and recovery so far, photos of your abdomen before and after (optional but a great way to monitor and see change), mobility and breathing assessments before and after hands on treatment, abdominal and scar massage, learning self-massage and advising on topical self-care products.

Please note that, particularly in the first session, you may only have 15-20 minutes of actual hands on massage and this may be enough for you depending on the age and healing of your scar. We monitor how you are feeling in the days after to help me best plan your next session.

How many sessions will I need?
Everybody is different – their caesarean is different, their scar is different, their recovery is different, their home life and support is different and so it is difficult to say how many sessions you will need.
One session is still beneficial if that is all you can attend/afford but I would suggest trying to come for four. As an example, the first two a week or two apart, then a third session around 3 or 4 weeks later and then, depending on your recovery at that time, either the fourth 6-8 weeks later or if your scar/body is healing really well and we feel this is not necessary, coming back around 8-12 months later to reassess and check healing is still on track and that no scar tissue has developed. This is just a rough guide and more individual advice can be given after your first session.

Whilst I want to manage expectations as everyone is different, I have seen great results so far in this amazing therapy and I look forward to sharing it with you and supporting you on your healing journey!
